Giving Back to the Environment
We believe that each citizen and business needs to do its part to reduce the emission of green house gases so as to fight global warming. Here is what we have done so far:
17 Ways We Are "Going Green"
1. We are going paperless. When you drop off documentation, we will scan it into our computer rather than making photocopies of everything. We only print what is necessary.
2. We had an eco audit done on our building and are implementing the suggestions to make our office more energy efficient. Even minor suggestions such as ensuring the doors are properly sealed to prevent loss of heat.
3. We have installed computer programmed thermostats so that we are not heating or cooling our office after hours.
4. We have low-flush toilets.
5. We are installing a new energy efficient furnace.
6. We are insulating the walls and ceilings to prevent heat loss.
7. We are able to access our computer system remotely allowing our lawyers to work remotely instead of driving to work everyday.
8. Some of us car pool, walk or bike to work.
9. We use energy-efficient light bulbs in most of our offices.
10. We use email instead of the postal system.
11. We “meet” our clients via phone or Skype so they don’t have to drive to our offices.
12. All of our electronic equipment is energy efficient.
13. We have our paper shredded so that it can be recycled.
14. We have blue boxes in our offices and we recycle as much as possible.
15. We pay most of our bills and do as much banking as possible online.
16. We receive our faxes electronically. We don't print them out unless necessary.
17. We can fax documents directly from our desks via our computer system so the documents don’t have to printed first and then faxed out.
