Livia Jozsa, Family & Divorce Lawyer
Education and Experience
Livia Jozsa started practicing family law in Toronto; she moved to the Simcoe County area in 2016 to begin practice with a general practice firm, mainly focusing on family law, civil litigation and wills and estates. Livia developed a passion for family law and quickly developed a reputation with all of her clients and the community for her empathetic and passionate nature.
Livia decided to specialize primarily in family law and joined Galbraith Family Law in 2017 to build her practise. Livia loves assisting clients with their issues, no matter how complex or tumultuous it may be. Livia advocates for her clients passionately and forcefully as needed, but prefers a collaborative approach wherever possible. She does not believe in argument for the sake of argument, but only as a means to resolving conflict within families
Livia attended Queen’s Law School in Kingston, Ontario and was called to the bar in 2013. She was awarded the Law Foundation of Ontario’s “Community Commitment Award” for extensive commitment to community service as she was involved in many student organizations and legal clinics where she took leadership roles. Livia previously attended the University of Toronto (U of T) where she specialized in political science and was also involved in many community and student organizations.
Livia also acts as a junior lawyer for Lynn Kirwin on occasion, assisting her with her busy children’s custody and access cases. Livia is currently a contributing author to the textbook on family law entitled “Vulnerable Persons: Protection and Remedies in Canada” and is specifically focusing on the section on spousal violence. Livia has assisted both mothers and fathers deal with high conflict situations of spousal violence, intimidation and alienation against the children and finds it very rewarding when she reaches resolution.
She developed her interest in law after working for the U of T legal aid clinic, coordinating legal education presentations for U of T law students while an undergrad student and also taking conflict resolution mediation training. Livia’s love for negotiations then led her to compete in the International Mediation Advocacy Competition moot, while in law school, where she again refined her skills in negotiations and mediations and now is fortunate enough to do so as a career!
