What Defines Urgency Before the Court?

How does the court determine if a situation is considered urgent or an emergency?

— Ryan R.

Answer

One judge described urgency as cases involving abduction, threats of harm or dire financial circumstances. But, ultimately, the judge will consider the facts of the case before them and will use their judgement to determine whether the case is "urgent" or an "emergency". Judges have a lot of discretion to determine what is appropriate in the particular circumstances.
